Post by d.p.n.s »

i was put on to this site by some of the guys on oldschool.co.nz
and was told you might be able to help me.

ive put a ca18det into my old mk1 escort van.
it runs realy nice and pulls like a school boy......till it gets hot
then it starts to feel like its running on 3.

any ideas and sorry if ive put this in the wrong section.

Could a coil pack being cutting out once it's warm? I know that dirty old briggs and stratton mower engines can develop a hot fault with the coils. Not really the same, but could be a place to start.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............

Quite likely the coils. CA's/RB's are notorious for the coils dicking out when they get hot. Does it just start missing?
Try work out which cylinder is missing/dropping out then swap the coil to another cylinder and see if that one starts missing then atleast you no that will be the problem.
Hope thats a little helpful
