hey there, i dunno who uses what site now so ill post up on both untill one is obsolete haha
anyways as i have posted on the other site i bought a 1973 140j.
bought it in july and didnt start working on it till end of july due to a mates mini taking up garage space.
have rebuilt a L20B from a 1984 Bluebird. have got twin 40mm delortos, and a 5speed box.
here is my progress so far
the plates are dead so that does mean revinning and someone told me that if you have fresh paint or fresh underseal then its an instant fail (lucky me i found out AFTER i have undersealed and painted the engine bay and insde) i will try find a way thru the re vinning process it may take some time tho

I'd give it a nudge anyway, or atleast talk to the guy who will do the inspection.

new paint and underseal does not warrant an instant fail. but you may be asked to provide a rust repair cert for previous repairs, if any ($240). I have just picked up my car from re-vinning today, and the process is relitively painless, you will be asked for a lvvcert ($370)for the motor and box, unless you re-stamp the block L14
vinz charge $127 for the vin and warrant then $267 for 6 months rego (1600cc) more for 2ltr more for 6cyl and more again for v8 (bastards)
if there are no apparant previous repairs you will be sweet as, so take time to insure the body looks mint, if there are repairs, get the rust repair cert guy on board as you go, its easyer that way.or failing that make sure the repairs cant be seen when finished(very important)
or better still obtain live plates and papers from a wreck somehow.

Good to see this build on our forum now too. I have a real soft spot for this model, and I like the standard you're working to.
