i brought a new alternator off trademe
and the plugs are different my old original hitachi had a T spade plug F N
and A E that the other two wires went onto
this new one has D- D+ B+
the D- is earth I'm guessing as it is a thread coming out the body
D+ ? don't know it is next to the spade terminal and also a black plug socket
B+ must be power as has insulation below the bottom nut it screws onto?
from what I have googled I need to change some wiring disconnect the voltage regulator?
but before I do this I would like some advice from someone that has done this before or knows what to do?
thanks

I'm not 100% sure, but I think on your factory plug, one wire is for the battery light, and the other one is power from the key to energise the feilds and make it begin charging?

I don't think 180B is the same as 120Y either.

That problem is what you get when you fit an L series, (Or even late late model A15 vannette) alternator to a B110/210/310.

What's wrong with your Sunny alternator?
I suspect the alternatar you've been sold it wrong.

the letters on the back of an L series are also different to the ones on the plug for a proper A series one.

I think you have bought an Australian spec alternator. NZ new cars have an external regulator the Australian cars alternators are part of their local content and look to have an internal regulator. It should be easy to install by bypassing the external regulator. I suggest you get someone qualified to do it as getting it wrong could kill the alternator.

then you will need to research how to install a internal reg altenator into your car or pay a auto sparky. can some one confirm it is a internal reg altenator???
