Leadfoot Festival. Hahei, Coromandel Penninsula. 2016.

Post by chris_g1 »

Went to support my mate, Rick bone, in his datsun 1200 coupe. He won his class, got personally asked back next year by Rod Millen
and I got in free both days and got "Red Stickered" going in the gate in my 1600. (see photo).
Great weekend.

Was such an awesome event. Well done to Rick for a top result. I was so stoked to see him win pre 75. So close to being in the top 10 overall too, just bumped out by Paul Radisich in the last run, in a car with probably twice the power and about 20 years newer! Rick's last run was quicker than Radisich too!
Lots of cool cars to see and a great venue/atmosphere. Definitely heading back next year!

It was a great event indeed. Next year I'll be better prepared for the weather changes and pack sun block too :-/. Hopefully I'll be able to bring my blue 1600 if it's finished. I hope the panel beater pulls his head out of his arse SOON.
