Hey Team, I've got to sort out the measurements etc for getting my coil overs made front and rear for my 180b (810)

As they have to get sent up north I need to let them know things like

Shock length
spring length
spring Lb
etc etc

and while I have some setup already they have been modified

Has anyone got or know how to do this properly as I only want to send them away once and at around $2500 I don't wana stuff it up

Any thoughts much appreciated :)

Lee

Wouldn't they determine the spring length and shock length when they build them?

no offence but isn't this like answering how long is a piece of string?

there are so many variences......................
what ride height do you want the car?
spring rate is somewhat determined about what you want the car to feel and ride like and how comfortable you want the ride.
what are the factory measurements?

I guess you are dealing with autolign??

need to do some research in my opinion

Oops sorry guys I should put a bit more details in.

Was more looking for the right process (order) when measuring the piece of string (awesome analogy by the way)
Ie first find Spring rates (225 rear 250 front)
Then work out .....
Then work out .....

I have started the research but it's always good to check with the locals

You need to know your vehicle weight on each corner (with the driver) ideally. With coilovers ride height can be adjusted with the spring seat collar on the threaded strut tube sleeve so that's no big deal as long as you have a reasonable starting point. Your suspension guy should know how much droop to factor in (I assume you know what strut inserts you are using and their length) and spring rates depending on what you are doing with the car. It would be a good idea to try and find someone who has done exactly what you want to do, learn from their mistakes! Good luck.
