Shipping from CA, USA

Has anyone shipped anything from California using Kiwi Shipping, etc?
I want an expensive item that's subject to sales tax in CA, and Kiwi Shipping's warehouse is in CA as well. As I understand it I'll be charged a sales tax because the address the seller ships to will be in Compton, CA
Is this right? Does anyone have any better ideas for US shipping? It's a header... so not that small an item. Cheers.

Is it too big to send to that NZ post dealio, where they send it out here, repackaging it for you where possible? (I forget what that's called?)
I have a pair or brake drums at Kiwi shipping right now. Dad dropped them off there a few weeks ago. His mate ran him down there, and he was shocked to learn it was an hours drive from his mates. He'd got his mate to drop quite a bit of stuff off there over the years, without realising it was so far.
Ill try find out what than NZ post service is called.

Youshop is the place you're thinking of, I don't know if they're cheaper than Kiwi shipping or not, but it would have been over $600 USD for shipping alone with Fedex!
There's a 510 Realm member in California who'll pick it up for me and send it for me if I want, but I thought I might not save anything if I pay CA sales tax - in which case I might as well just send it to Kiwi Shipping.
Anyone got any other ideas, or happen to be shipping a Datsun from the US that I could put it in?

Don't have an engine in the car to use for test fitting unfortunately.

Shipito is one that I use sometimes, not in CA so won't get the tax.

I Understand the reasons you want that particular header though. Fantastic choice. If you take that header to your cam grinder magical noises will happen.
Just that collector costs more than most headers sold locally.
How bad is the sales tax really going to be ?
