Hey guys, to start the topic off i've already made a decent start to the car but i'll go through what i've done already. Basically, rescued her from certain death amongst scrap couches, bbq's and other modern bluebirds. I picked her up from a scrap dealer in manukau. Wasn't looking its best thats for sure. A few rust patches here and there, mainly on the rear end but definately within my budget.
Made a gutsy trip home in the falcon with the trailer swaying in the wind (saw people backing off with a glance). Got the old girl back to my barn in Te Awamutu. Have since stripped the motor, interior and panels (a lot of time, beer and sore fingers).
Now a week later i've ordered my SR20DET from america, quite a good price, out of an S14 with 40,000km's for $3,800 comes with transmission, ECU, uncut loom, everything down to the MAF sensor and turbo. Also ordered window seals for the doors, still need to find some seals for windscreen front and rear. Parts should be arriving next week sometime.
Before I even had the car I had already decided on the colour. A real nice custom lime green metallic with a slight gold pearl. which i accidentally put a drop in the new carpet in the house.. woops. will update with photos when i can find out how this thing works.
Basically this leaves me to sort out the rust in the poor thing then get this motor fitted and running, i've got fabricating friends and mechanic friends for the motor, wiring and mounts. And i might also have someone to sort out the rust. All i need now is a pair of front fenders, preferably the ones with the indicators on the grille. I have both grille options but would prefer the indicators on the grille.
I'll keep you updated.
Cheers guys.

good on you mate!
I think your price for an SR20 might be a wee bit on the high side though. You have my respect for rescuing a datsun from the jaws of the scrapper!

And any interest in my old L18 i'd be happy to have checked out, its done 90,000 miles/kilometers, not too sure, origional dash was k's but had mph in there when we got it. Might pay to compression test first.
