I wouldnt be to concerned about 5mm , spread between the front of the bonnet , back of the guard and door gaps, that really not a lot

It's probably not the best way to attack things to be honest , doing it that way will involve a lot more welding than doing just one patch. I'm guessing you don't have a lot in the way of metalshaping gear, how much experience do you have ? I own a resto shop, and have experience with those bonnets ...

As sad as I am that I no longer own this , it's great to see it's in really good hands now.
