it all depends on the combination of the plate, flywheel, and release bearing carrier.
im running an a15 with full sandwich plate, lightened a12 flywheel, a12 release bearing carrier, and i had to space out the clutch fork pivot on the gearbox with 3 washers to get a functioning clutch.
i should remove the full sandwich plate, so then the bellhousing mounts against the block, so i can eliminate some of the spacing washers ive fitted, but some washers are probly needed due to the thinner lightened flywheel.
the half plate 'dust cover' is a lot thinner as its only a cover at the bottom of the bellhousing, not a spacer between the block and bellhousing.

Re: Bellhousing "dust cover"
hmmmmm. This explains maybe the problem I am having.
A12 block, 60A gearbox, A14 (?) lightened flywheel, heavy duty excedy clutch, heavy gauge samwhich plate.
I have a gentle whine with me always, as I believe the release bearing is riding on clutch, the clutch functions fine, and if I dial off the clutch to stop the "pre-engagement" then I don't have enough travel for the clutch to allow gear changes....
Its a right arse to get the clutch cable hooked on too. Of course i have lost some cable travel also with the spigot fitted for the smaller A12 clutch cable not to pass through the "eye" in the engine block.
Might have to discuss it with you "guru's" at Akaroa on Sunday

Re: Bellhousing "dust cover"
Oh and more importantly, I have a skinny half cover (needs straightened) I will try to remember to bring with me to Akaroa.

Re: Bellhousing "dust cover"
sounds like the fork is over centre and is not pulling the full travel.
