Re: Lisa's 260C Cedric - Now 30 Lap Derby Car
Did the second round was going hard for about 5 laps then hit someone and it kept missing and fartig for the the rest of the race over half throttle - heaps of fun now for sale as dont want to derby it with that much rust - i got a small hit in the passengers door that put me in the wall and its folded the sill/ door up to the passenger seat mounts
will put up pics and vids later.

Hello im new to the forum and im from the uk. we use datsun cedrics for banger racing over here and they are one of the best cars for the sport. What are the rules for racing a derby car?we can do almost anything in banger racing appart from hitting the drivers door. Here is a link of a few cedrics raced over here doing some damage.

Gday welcome to the forum - pretty much banger spec except we just have a bar behind the seat floor to roof with bars top and bottom like an I shape - check out the speedway nz website under derby car rules for full run down - we also are not allowed side intrusion bars etc so can get a bit scary when someone is "accidentally" going for the drivers door.
do you think you could post up some pics of the cages etc that you guys run as iv always thought banger racers wer mental on tarmac.
all our derbys are done on wet clay and you are pretty much out of control the whole time.
heres the latest derby cars we had in the ramp race

we also race on the clay tracks it is hard when it wet and alot slower in speed but it is fun sliding all the way round.
We use a frame behind the drivers seat here are is one on ebay uk.

Here is my datsun for my next meeting its got a 3ltre ford carb on which makes them quicker and more reliable and we are also alowed to use a distributor guard to stop it breaking when you hit another car and we also use big steel water tanks to keep them cool and adds more strength.
And here is my next banger car a nice rusty 330

fyi you can upload photos of your beloved Datsuns to CarJam and get free lookups (my first car in the UK was a 2 tone, brown and beige vinyl roof Datsun 120Y bought for GBP500 blew up engine GBP300 to repair and sold for GBP400 - d'oh)
