Dear Nick
*clap clap clap clap*
Yours sincerely
Chris

nice work dude, only found this recently on my trawling for SR20DE 1200s. Any updates? Does the sump hang very low relative to the cross member? Also what have you done as far as the swaybar? Keen to make me a gearbox tunnel? :)

Thanks Chris
No updates, me and wifey have just brought our first house so i'm still fucking round setting up the garage, so with the lead up to moving, moving, unpacking etc its probably been about 5-6 weeks since i did anything on it.

yeah my sump does hang pretty low so does the gearbox bell housing, the exhaust, the gearbox crosmember, the......... I think i'll make a sump guard of some description just to be safe though, If I work out where my camera is i'll take a photo to give you an idea. They definitely are decent amount bigger than a CA. Haven't looked at swaybar yet but i'd say it'll be a custom jobbie. Although I'm pretty sire I have a B310 swaybar that I might be able to heat and bend the legs in on and make work.

I'd be happy to make you a tunnel, hell I'll even install the sr if you deliver your ute to me :)

Really. Dang. was hoping you would reply "no it's right up there nice and snug, sits level with the crossmember"
I am thinking hard about this conversion for reliability and bang for buck factor. No doubt it would end with my truck being off the road for a century however.
On my Internet travels I found that some have mounted the clutch m/cylinder in the normal place but a really small one and up high. I take it you either had no space or thought doing it cleanly under the dash was a better option?
I'm pretty much just rambling because I want to see more photos/have one myself

If the motor was forward a little (I.E. firewall not cut) you could fit the clutch master in. I still could have fit the brake master in there with the standard Intake Manifold but I was just thinking ahead a little as I want to but a built up sr in there with QTB eventually so thats why I put all my stuff under the dash. But yeah they can be made to fit in with out cutting up so much. I just decided I want to push mine down and back a bit more than most.

What you should do is bring your truck down for the akaroa cruise in october. mine *should* be going by then or atleast be sufficiently close.
So drive your truck down, leave it here with me fly home and i'll do the conversion get it certed then you can fly down and drive it home again :D

problem solved.

haha, sweet idea. I'm one to rather do the work myself however, plus I'm pretty poor so that wouldn't work.
Looks like a pretty straight forward swap, biggest hangups to me would be wiring and that transvestite tunnel.

Dont think and sr20 would work for you Chris. They are taller than my z18 with a larger gearbox so would hang lower. Iv had to reverse out of malls as my gearbox hit the speed bumps and i couldnt physically drive over them. My cars not even low!

With a new tunnel the gearbox can be mounted a bit higher than in yours andy
I think it could be done. My bell housing is low for sure but I think if less was scalloped from the xmember it *should* be alright
I mean his car is stupid low anyway I don't imagine he can take it anywhere but dead flat roads to begin with :P
