L Series oil cooler

Post by hsepwr »

Im wondering if I fit an oil cooler to my L18 or am I getting a bit carried away. I can get one pretty cheap. has anyone done this round here if so what size lines etc were used and would i gain much from doing it.

Cheers

i would think it would be a waste of time unless you do regular track work or lots of heavy towing. i doubt you will gain anything other than more oil capacity due to extra lines, capacity of cooler.

what are you planning to use it for?

Make sure you get one with a thermostat.

What does your oil temp get to atm?
Having Cold oil is bad as well.. it needs to get up to temperature for viscosity reasons

You can buy kits craig which have a sandich block that goes between the filter and the block. As adam said, you'll be wanting a thermostat too. I hear you can buy kits with them too. They allow the oil to bypass the cooler when the oil is cold, but allow it to run through the cooler when it's up to temprature.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............
