My weekend debarcle-athon

Post by Bartman »

I'd like to share with you the story about my weekend.
A mate of mine is getting married, and he came up this weekend for his stag do/boys weekend.
We were planning to go to kaikoura on friday night. One of our other mates was sheduled to arrive from Auckland at 950pm on friday night. We had a caravan and all our shit loaded up ready to go. Then we find out that the plane is gonna be two hours late. We go to pick him up at 1150, and get told that it's gonna be another 25mins. So about ten to one we finally head head off to kaikoura. (By now getting pretty boozed) So about 3am(ish) and 30 odd kms past cheviot, the caravan began tank slappering. We pull over on a hillside, and take a look. the caravan has a broken axle, and we have almost no tools. Plus its the middle of the night and we're barely outside the fog line.
So we phone another mate who was already up there and tell him whats happened. Then start packing what shit we can from the caravan into the surf. We head up to the camp, and proceed to drink all the piss. I crash about 5am. I'm woken up at 6 by a mate handing me a bacon sandwhich. The boys then went out for a snorkle and got sum crays etc. After that, Me and a one of the boys (who still hadnt had a sleep yet) came back to town to get a car trailer. We went back and picked the guys up with the car trailer, (Hungover as fuck, and tired and sunburned) then made out way back to get the crippled caravan. We get back to where it was to rescue it. And guess what, the fucking thing was too wide for the god damn trailer! 5 hours of driving for nothing!
The only thing left to do was remove all the ID from the caravan, and leave the fucker there.
What a complete nightmare. By the time we got back to town and got back on it, I was too buggered to even hit town for the actual stag do.
And a well meaning relative rang me this morning (Before 7am!) to warn me about the impending tsunami. Plus this morning, one of my mates ran over the suitcase of the poor prick who owned the caravan. and rooted a bunch of stuff in it. (including the case itself)
It was just one fuck up after another. Tired, and hungover. I can't wait to go back to work tommorrow for a rest.
And that was my epic weekend.
(Maybe this should be in the fail thread?)

Iv got a similar story of fail.
Driving to New Years in nelson my gf managed to blow her car up by boil river. She was moving to Auckland so we couldnt take it back to chch. She managed to over heat it untill it stopped going so i figured it wouldnt be anything simple.
So we decided to tow it to the nearest town north an see what happened. Didnt have a tow rope so i ended up at the very top of a ladder that was perched on the side of a 4 metre drop, sawing at this old boys grandchildrens rope swing with a hunting knife. After a couple minutes sawing we had an ancient rope. Tied it on, took off gently, snapped it, tied it again, took off even gentler snapped it again. So in the end i borrowed a real tow rope off some pig hunting skinheads.
So the journey began. It was quite senic at 50ks and it only took 10 hours to get 250ks to nelson. Snapped the tow rope (2 ton strop) 6 times with a gf on her restricted that had never been towed before at the wheel. The last time it happened at the roundabout going into nelson, I had park up on the median strip run back then push her car to the rope again haha. It was dark by the time we got to nelson so the last 30 min she was towed in complete darkness. We then parked her car in nelson, got it trucked to wellington the next day where her dad a mechanic luckily tired to fix it. He did in the end but had to replace headgasket rings new head etc. She bought a new car to carry on to Aucks. So we had our holiday then i took her to the ferry where she had changed her booking to just passenger without a car. So that was 2 hours frm nelson to picton. It would have been faster to carry on down the coast. But I had to return the strop (we bought a new one) to the pig hunting skinheads. I had no way to contact them just told them the day i would bring it back. So it was back to nelson then back down the middle to where they were staying. So pretty much a 10 hour trip home too!

Feel your pain bart. At least i wasnt hung over i suppose haha
