Post by sunny79datto »

hey i have oil leaking out the back of the gearbox where my driveshaft goes into.i think it could be to short?or is it just the seal. i put a 60l (think it was called)5speed gearbox in was a little shorted than the 56a gearbox but the drive shaft fitted but ya put the driveshaft into the back of the gearbox an then pull it back to the diffhead bout 30mm i think is that to much do i need to get it lengthend or just check the seal

i would replace the seal first as its the cheapest and easiest option, failing that, a driveshaft from another model may do the job

afaik the fours and 5s are the same length. You may have to buy the whole shroud for the end rather than just the seal though.

From memory, the seal is part of the shroud. I once removed the seal from the shroud, and found it wasn't a standard size. So I found a seal with the correct inside diameter, and the same OD as the shroud. Worked, but didn't give the same protection that the steel shroud does.
