Super Lows in 610

Post by Mikewazowski »

So I'm now looking into the possibility of running Lovells Superlows in front and rear of my 180b. They do sets for the 1600 and I had a quick measure and looks like they should fit alright.
Are there any blatant reasons why this would not be a good idea?
Also, if I need shorter shocks/shortened struts to keep the springs captive, which shocks should I get and how do I go about getting my struts shortened?

Here are the spring specs:

Fronts
DFL-1Sl:
F.H = 275mm
I.d = 118mm
Material = 11mm
Rate = 125Lbs/inch calculated.

Rears
DRL-2SL:
F.H = 240mm
I.d = 75mm
Material = 16mm
Rate = 794Lbs/inch calculated

I have Dobisport Lows in there at the moment, I've asked for the specs of them but haven't heard back from Dobisport yet. Looks like they are approximately the same spring diameter and individual (material) diameter.

rear 180B springs are a common UPGRADE to the standard 510 springs.
ie they fit, but are stiffer than stock 510 ones.
if you use 510 ones in your 180B, they should fit....but may be a lil soft?

Hi Dan, yeah I thought that might be a concern. That's why I was hoping to hear back from Dobisport regarding the spring constants of the springs that I have in there at the moment.
For the record, Lovells were really quick at emailing me back, I was very impressed.

Do you mean that standard 180b springs are an upgrade for 510? Just thinking that maybe the performance ones are made stiff enough for use in my application (on the road not racing). I would like to have a comparable spring rate to what I have now if that is possible.

I've read that 510 springs are shorter than 610 ones. (in the rear at least) So a superlow from a 510 might be a megalow (too low?) in a 610.

Hmm that is concerning, would be a lot easier if some place actually made super lows for the 610. Still waiting to hear from Dobisport. Lovells were definitly ftw compared to them for quick response.
