Liftback Gas Struts

Post by fweddy »

I have a '82 Sunny 1.5 ZX.

A number of years ago I took the rear liftback gas struts out to replace. Soon after that I put the car in storage, just dug it out the other day and got it ready to go again and of course need the struts. Can't find them anywhere!!

What I'm after is ideally a good pair of struts, or at least one or two to use as pattern to get some new ones. Would also like the wee brackets that bolt to the hatch and body.

If not, measurements or part number would be ideal, or some one in Canty (pref North of CHCH) that will allow me to view.

Thanks

I got new struts for the bonnet on my 1600 and the guy had all sorts of struts in different lengths, had all the brackets too.

It was called gas strut services up here in Hamilton, but there should be some one doing the same sort of thing down your way. Its a mobile service.

Still in need of help here if poss.

I've looked at the possibility of getting new which looks like the best bet at present. But seems there is no guide book as to what strut suits which make and model.

Can some one with a similar car help me out by doing some measuring. I need

Extended length (measure mounting point to mounting point)
Closed length (measure mounting point to mounting point)
Diameter (give me body plus rod)

Thanks in anticipation.

pm Rob (volodcovich) and ask if he will sell the hatch struts out of his coupe racecar.
