Well, epic journey to Hastings today. That makes 3 cars from Hastings for Flauski (1200/C110/this), all driven back. Caught the bus up at 8am which was painful cause there were some really smelly unkempt people onboard!
Another right place right time purchase. Guess I have all the luck when it comes to good deals.
I was picked up at Hastings bus stop and taken to the old owners house to fill out paperwork. A while after that, jump in drive off! Stopped in Waipukarau to put in $50 gas and still have half a tank at the other end. Sweet.
I drove without braking much, I was told no issues with the car but turns out the front brake pads must be rooted cause bad noise of steel on steel when braking. There was no turning back.
Made it without a hitch and enjoyed the ride, nice to drive although drivers seat padding worn and I swear I was riding on seat springs.
Its white, 1973, two owner (same family), 125kms on clock. Has OG guard mirrors and original owners manual. Little rugged with shopping dings etc but has no real rust which is beyond comprehension? I know these rust around screens/boot/sills/front guards and all only have minor surface rust. Mind you I ran out of time to have a real close look. A Datsun without gaping holes?
Plan is to lower and put wheels on, then either take to Akaroa later in year or sell. Either way it will be sold to help finance 240K.
Pictures to follow.

Spares! woohoo! Would love a 160J SSS gauge cluster... but I do need the rear bootlid datsun badge, maybe some front springs I am sure there is more.
So odd, seen some Datsun firsts like full plastic interior door trims with fake wood stickers? And has one sided switch lights (park and tail light) like Mercedes so people can see your car when its parked on a dark street Its a jap spec with all jap stickers everywhere.
Guess these were meant to be a classy car.
Enough babble here are some pics:

Re: Flauskis new edition 140J sedan
Pulled front wheels off today to inspect brakes, just as thought one pad was completley naff and steel on steel. All front pads rooted and beyond limits. Its a wonder cause the rest of the car is quite tidy.
Which highlighted an old issue, no one wants to help old school car owners. I rang 4 places looking for brake rotors and pads, nil, zip, nada, nothing. Even B&T called an alleged "specialist" on my behalf and came up with NOTHING!
Called a mate and he sorted it within minutes. They looked in a book, not just the computer! Thats the trouble these days, if its not blindingly obvious or easy to do, most places just fob you off!!
I have found a previous repair in boot near edge under windscreen but can only be seen from inside boot. Other than that only surface rust. Paint is a bit rooted in some spots too. And there are dings in the front guards right on the nose corners. Its gonna be hard to let this one go. Wait till you see my SSR MK IIs on it
