Shifting.

Post by torqued »

Ever since i got my car the placement of where the motor sits has always given me nightmares.
And lately the more i think about it the more it gives me the shits.

So in the aid of handling ive been tossing up the idea of bringing it well back into the fire wall, This is the easy part.
From what i measure the only issues i may have are wiper mechanism , draglink and relocation of the brake lines that cross over the tunnel. all easy fix.

But im more worried about gearbox shifter location because as the box comes back so will it.

I have a idea of the contraption i may have to make up to keep this in a usable place but wondering if there is a easier idea out there

So to put it out there any thoughts and ideas on the shifter side.

You could use the shorter Skyline L-series gearbox with your bellhousing to get a better shifter location, otherwise fabricate a remote shifter, using a ball joint as it's base.

cheapest way is just to make some ugly as bent shifter deal...

BEST way.....is be an awesome fabricator like this guy.....half way down the page shows what he did to a shifter to make it work.

Just slide your seat further back. And cable tie some blocks to the pedals if your legs are too short.
