if you can prove it was registered in nz before then go to AA and ask for the form to take to the police so they can do a check to see if it is stolen then police will fill that form in then if all good go to AA and will cost about 450 -500 dollars and before you take it to get rereged try and make her as good as for a wof hide any rust well ...vtnz also do rereg but they are not so freindly on cars and are more expencive

a car that new should have the VIN number lasted into the back window. Then you just ring the police, and get them to say that it's not of interst to them.
Carjam should be able to tell you the old rego number too.
Also might pay to check there's no money owing on it. I heard of some poor cunt who rerego'd a car that had had coin owing on it, then it got repo'd.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............
