Disc Setup for H165

Post by jeremiahnz »

Hey guys,

Just reading some of the posts on here for disc conversions for H165's and see there are a few different options so just wanted to confirm what I can use. Also, I haven't been able to match up a lot of the part numbers with suppliers lists

I believe I need the following:

Brackets
Some Dattodevil/Bart specials.. or similar? Anybody willing to get some more cut or share CAD file if it is drawn up?

Rotors
P11 - I have seen other people mention U13 and U12 also, can any be used? How about P10?

Callipers
U13 - again can these be interchanged with P11 or P10 callipers?

Bearing kit
From some of the part numbers it looks like a C20 Vanette kit? Is this correct?

Disc Pads
I presume P11 or U13 pads are used?

Thanks in advance - again haven't been able to match up the part numbers that have been posted hence the above questions.

I am planning a raid on Pick-a-part of similar, so the more options the better in case lots of bits are already gone.

Cheers

Damon and I run U13 stuff on our 1200's. I have an issue with mine though. Given the way the inner tub of myrear wheel arches is, I can't lower the rear as the handbrake cable outer retaining bracket will foul on the inner tub. Damon didn't have this problem with his, as the ute has a different shape to the sedans.
Damon does have the file for the drawings. Although he's a little reluctant to give it away willy nilly. A bloke at 1200.com posted up a cad file for a series exhaust port flanges, and next thing there were poeple selling turbo manifolds using flanges cut from his file.
I should really get my mate who drew the file up for me to send me a copy. (I need to catch up with him anyway)
I'm 99% sure that U11/12/13 use the same caliper bolt spacing, but that the U13 have a larger pad area than the earlier ones. I can't say for sure about the Primera stuff, and I've never compared them. I don't see why they wouldn't be quite similar. There may even be a combination which has a more favourable handbrake set up. I need to look into this, as I'm busting to sack my car out. And I've got a diff swap on the cards soon too.

Do the handbrake cables enter the caliper from the front or side?

Pics of Damo's set up are here- http://www.nzdatsun.com/forums/viewtopi ... 5&start=10" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
When He swapped from a wider vannette h156, back to a ute diff, we had to redesign his caliper brackets. Since he has lowering blocks, we were able to angle the caliper rearward to more the handbrake cable retaining arm down, and away from the inner face of the wheel tub/diff tunnel.
Toby (mr1200) runs an identical set of these "ute" caliper brackets, since he runs lowering blocks too. Sedans are tricky, becuase the shock absorbers are mounted vertically, rather than slanted like the utes, coupes and wagons are.

Yeah, that is the thread I have been going off for most of the info. It is an awesome thread, lots of useful stuff in it.

I haven't been able to get results for a lot of the part numbers though, hence why all the questions.

Yeah - I understand regarding the CAD thing and people using them for commercial purposes. I am one of the non commercial benfactors of the A series manifold templates (see my latest post in build thread). It is an awesome resource and sucks that others rip it off as it discourages more people from making this stuff available. If you guys aren't keen to share the cad would you be interested in getting a couple more cut?

I will go take a look under my car at where the shocks go as a 410 will be different again - oh the joy of more unique cars.

I CBF going and getting them cut myself, which is why I would rather share the program, than run around getting them made.
