Hey mate, I'm not from Nelson (I'm up in the Bay of Plenty) but I've got a Z18ET wired up and running in my 610. Not sure how much assistance I can be but if you need any help just yell out.

Don't quote me cos I may be incorrect, (I'm sure someone will chime in if I am) but the Z series clutch may be interchangable with the L series ones. AFAIK they use the same block and crank as an L series. Hayden (brwnwgn) may know for sure as I know he had a Z block with an L head in a rally car.
There should be something available for an L series. Maybe try ringing Tony at clutch systems NZ limted in Hazeldean road in Christchurch? Hes a very helpful bloke to deal with. He should know about interchangabilty etc. Very good to deal with too.

Yeah, datsunboy helped me wire my Z18ET up, and after seeing it done it isn't overly complicated. I ended up stripping the entire loom apart to try and find a few faults and it is pretty simple once you have it apart. I can take some photos of particular parts if you would like them explained. You pretty much wire some stuff up in the relay/battery area (power, earth, etc), and wire up a relay for your fuel pump, and you are away laughing.jasace wrote:

I had trouble finding a clutch as well. It took a couple of goes getting one that fit as APPCO didn't list anything for Z18ET. Ended up getting it sent to a place in Auckland (can't remember the name just now) and sent down a new one which was perfect
I'll try and remember the name of the place it went to....
