Fully reconditioned early model A12

Post by Kitch »

Due to recent upgrade to A15, I am looking at selling my motor I had in my sedan.
Will have to check mileage, but it has only done perhaps 3,000 miles.

Early model (front mount dizzy) A12 for Datsun 1200

Fully rebuilt, with the following work undertaken:
new 20 thou oversize pistons & rings
New mains, big ends and cam bearings
Acid dipped block, tested, decked and new frost plugs
crank tested and ground (unsure if standard bearing size or not)
new gasket set, baffled sump
fresh round port head, (done about 300 miles) machined, lapped in valves, new stem seals etc
Standard carb, can probably scrounge up a spare set of flows to go with it
Mild cam by Auckland Cams

Very solid engine, no problems,
why stuff round with a do-er-upper for a couple of hundred dollars, then spend $1500+ rebuilding it properly. This is all done, and ready for 100,000 miles of motoring!

Can supply with stater, alternator, 4 speed gearbox, clutch etc as removed from car.

Note: missing water pump and rocker gear currently, as I flogged them for my A15....

Would part trade a roadstar ute diff/rear end, can't think of anything else I need. prefer cash anyway to fund my coupes impending panel repair bills...

I have some custom engine mount brackets for fitting one of these early model A12's into a B310 Sunny for anyone that might be interested.
