Also one more thing i forgot to ask. when i took my car for a wof it come back with a few things i had to fix but one said there was no vin number but yet i have plates on hold and i rang them up and they said all i had to do was get a wof then get a reg but i wana know how do i go about getting my vin number back on the car with out taken it past compliance. looks like the number was taken off and not put back on the body? not to sure how vin numbers or what have you really work.

you dont have the plate thats screwed to the firewall?? that shouldn't be a big deal, can buy the blank plate and stamp the numbers but are you sure its the right rego for that car, and not a plate swap off a coupe?? another couple of rubber places to try is rarespares (expensive though) and basis auto rubber. Both are in NZ. Other than that generic window seals cut to length or yahoo jp might help.

Yea there is no plate on the firewall. yea i had to pay like 300 bucks to get it back up to keeping the plates on hold. i did ring land transport people and i had to tell them about the car, they had all the details of the car still wat color it was and wat kinda car it was so i am guessing the plates are for the car i'v got all the details of the car from when it was first made and brought in nz from 1st owner up to me pretty much so i'm sure the plates are for the car. so i can get new plates and stamp the numbers on them can I??

I don't know who, but someone was selling reproduction body btags for datsuns. You just add you chassis number, and if you're smart the original engine number. (to give the impression that it's the original tag)

no matter.
Just get the factory engine number off carjam, and stamp that on your new tag. Never mind about your uprated engine. Most WOF guys wont notice the bigger engine. (the A series motors all look alike to the uninitiated)
I merely suggested using the original engine number so that no-one would suspect that you have a non factory body tag.
