a workmate has an sr20 bluebird, which is missing and farting at idle, NickM suggested that it could be tps sensor, and to check it with a multimeter, does anyone know what the correct reading should be when set properly, ? further more has anyone experianced a similar issue and found a solution, seems to be electrical as only does it when warmed up, (once auto choke has dissengaged) and gets real bad when air-con and lights are on, putting more load on electrics.
Any help would be appreciated.

Any of your mates got a CONSULT cable? You could plug it into the consult port and check any errors, and get the sensor readouts which would tell you what was not working properly in most cases.2 doors wrote:a workmate has an sr20 bluebird, which is missing and farting at idle, NickM suggested that it could be tps sensor, and to check it with a multimeter, does anyone know what the correct reading should be when set properly, ? further more has anyone experianced a similar issue and found a solution, seems to be electrical as only does it when warmed up, (once auto choke has dissengaged) and gets real bad when air-con and lights are on, putting more load on electrics.

The bottom one is the tps setting, the top one is just a general maintenance guidde for sr20's

Re: sr20 running rough and stalling at idle
What model SR20 is it? S13 or vvt?
My thoughts, idle control valve or o2 sensor. My friend had the exact same issue when lights and AC was on, it would hunt for idle, new o2 sensor resolved it. The Power FC didn't even pick it up.

Re: sr20 running rough and stalling at idle
Thanks for the feedback guys, I have just had a look at the car, and it appears the engine is actually an sr18 and has two o2 sensors? there is one on the right of the exhaust manifold, just after the joint from cast cylinder head manifold to the exhaust, and one further down on the left, just before the bend that dissapears under the engine.
Is it common for an engine to run 2 o2 sensors? or is one something else completely? if so which would be the o2 sensor?
whatever happend to good old points and carbs?
