Cheap car shipping from whangarei to Christchurch?

So say hypothetically I bought a valiant in northland sight unseen and needed to get it to christchurch, and said valiant could not move under it's own power, who should I call? I seem to have misjudged the cost of shipping by around $400 at this stage, quoted seem to be hovering around the $1000 mark for the big players.
