Hey everyone, been busy for the last month or so and spent bugger all time on the computer over that time. Spent the last hour skimming the posts to see what everyone has been up to.
Ive finally got a new job after 4months of being a laid back unemployed bum since 14th January. Loved every moment of not working and getting to sleep in everyday and doing stuff for myself. Was great untill the looming realisation that my savings werent going to last forever. So now im working at Placemakers Antigua Street in shaky Christchurch. Been there two weeks now and loving it. The aftershock novelty is starting to wear off though, but at least I only feel them at work as Rakaia has been missing out on them.
The round trip to work and home is 120km, so the Maxima is getting a great workout, although it missed out a few day on the first week as an injector packed up and was only running on 5cylinders, so the Laurel got a bit of a run for a few days. I will proabably end up moving to town to save on the fuel cost and also time, as it takes 50mins to get to work. Just started investigating what is required by the bank and insurance co's for buying a house in the city. Will see what happens.
The Skyline is on hold as the rust certification guy didnt end up coming down to Ashburton because of the earthquake, and the allowable time to get it fixed has now long passed, and now have to save up the money again....lol.
On a brighter note, since January ive lost 23kg and feeling really great. Still got some work to do but doing really well. Ive discovered biking and been doing a bit of mountain biking in the Bottle Lake Forest and enjoying it.

Hey Steve! Thats great news all round for ya!
Will be sure to pop into placemakers sometime and say hi.
I can also recomend Hornby for a good neighbourhood!
We suffered damage in the first quake but no liqification or sewerage problems and no power cuts!
Also there is a decent concentration of Datsun club members here in Hornby(9)
Plus two of us very talented Metal fabricators with all the tooling required to get your Skyline sorted!!!

As long as it IS Hornby you go to and not Hei Hei (some people throw Hei hei in the Hornby realm)!Dattochriswagon wrote:Hey Steve! Thats great news all round for ya!

Hornby is full of good cunts (Chris, brendan and co especially).
When I lived in Hei Hei (Hei Hei Road to be exact) I had my shed ripped off and a couple grands worth of kingchrome tools stolen, my clothes stolen off the washing line, random people just walking in our house while we were sleeping, and to top it off a P-lab explosion about 100m down the road. That was the final straw that made us move to Bishopdale!
Actual Hornby is all goods lol

Haha yeh, my parents live in Broomfield which is different again, all goods there, mostly old people and families in that area. They've never had anything stolen and they've lived there for 22 years.

Re: Got a new job
Been looking at houses/flats in the Hoonhay, spreydon, somerfield and hornby areas. Still waiting to hear back from the bank what their criteria is now for buying in Chch. Im guessing a structural report etc will definitely be required. Also if i can use the equity in my current house to use as deposit etc and how much I can use. Might just end up renting instead. Dont want to sell my current house if I can help it as its almost paid for. The insurance criteria is that you have to go with the company that has it insured with the current owner, and there is no guarantee they will continue with the new owner, so no insurance, no mortgage, no sale.
I was wanting to get a place close enough to work so I could bike to work, and Hornby might be a bit too far, although would still be faster than driving.
