Exploding Subarus (Yeah Greg)

Hi, I had a look at a mate's Subaru which has appalling fuel economy, the radiator overflow is full of oil sludge, the radiator top is full of sludge, the oil on the dipstick has air bubbles in it, there was air coming out of the radiator water...runs fine otherwise, can't really make heads or tails of these flat engines but I know they have gasket issues (gaskets like corn fritters) just seeing if anyone knows a specialist to get it sorted before it starts belching oil smoke. Even though he could something tidy and eighties for what its gonna cost to get it fixed...just putting it out there...let me know if I should read the car it's last rites.
