Headunit in glovebox
Headunit in glovebox
Thinking of installing a headunit in the glovebox of my '81 Sunny to get a bit of sound in there but keep it looking original! Any tips for this? And if anyone's tried it before are there any major hassles? Thanks!

Re: Headunit in glovebox
If you use the car a lot then having a head unit in the glovebox can be a pain since it takes up some of your glovebox room. It probably doesn't matter to some people but I like to have the space there to chuck stuff into. Just a thought.

Re: Headunit in glovebox
I have recently fitted mine to the glove box of my 120y and it works mint. I rarely use my glove box but there is still room for the important stuff. One thing I have found is dont cut a hole and cage mount it as this will sit the radio too far back and may get in the way of your heater pipes. There is a place called Eds auto services who sell auto related stuff including under dash steel barckets which can be adapted to secure the unit in the glove box. I have used these in boats and older yank cars.
I just sit mine in there and only cut a small hole for the loom. scale of 1-10 I would say its a 9 for how it turned out.

I only really use it to store my manual and registration etc so if it was bolted to the roof of the glove box I figured those things could still fit underneath. Cool that sounds promising, will have to give them a ring. Cheers!
