datsun 120y coupe

Post by Datto »

Just got a 120y coupe at the start of this year at the moment its just been sitting around at home with not much really happening to it except for trying to get it running and cleaning up the rust in it. got it from some guy who just left it outside with nothing more than primer on it so it started rusting even more luckily mostly just surface rust.

so apart from that trying to get it to run was just a complete pig as it has twin dellortos and those have been sitting for ages, know jack about them cant get w.o.t probably because I'm pretty sure I don't have the proper linkages and no vacuum advance. so took off those and found a huge crack in the manifold.
but now have a red top 4age so hopefully that will be way more reliable. should be getting a k40 g-box next weekend so i can try it in the engine bay and start making up new engine mounts for it. :D

Nice one, I have a complete 4age and box package sitting in the garage waiting for me to pull the car off the road.

I have a 120y wagon as my daily. I got a full set up from a AE86 as I wanted a standard engine to make driving a bit more fun. Cross breading is a no no but I wont have to chop any thing so can go back to A series. I have an A15 that will be fitted as the 4age will take a bit longer to sort.
Your coupe looks honest and sounds like you know what you are up too.
Welcome and more pics please.

unfortunately there's not quite enough clearance with either wheels I have one hits the shock and the other hits the caliper so need to find some spacers so my wheels will turn. and just wondering from some one that has done this conversion before what master cylinder and brake hoses they used

i just used a 120y master cylinder for my conversion, and from memory i think i used s13/14 flexible brake hoses as they were a bit longer than the standard 1200 ones. But take a measurement and fitting type on ends that you need and any decent brake shop should be able to find you something off the shelf easily enough
