So I got my R31 struts into the front of my 610 wagon a few nights ago, but now the front brakes are stuck on all the time. I went for a really short drive to see if they would loosen up and it maybe worked (hard to tell), but as soon as I put the brakes on they stay on. When it is jacked up I can't rotate the wheels by hand most of the time. It seems like the problem must be in the calipers so I'm going to take them off and inspect them; I guess the piston is sticking and failing to return or something?
Are there any tips for taking the calipers off and taking them apart to inspect and/or rebuild them. Any things I should or should not do?

Make sure you can get parts before stripping them would be my only advice.
I had my two HR31 calipers rebuilt by Safe'r'brakes and it was about $60 from memory, that was a couple of years ago.

They are pretty easy to DIY rebuild, BNT stock the seal kits, the grease and even replacement pistons.
all you need is a brake cylinder hone from repco and a decent de grease / cleaning facility
Mike The R31 calipers are the same as my 300zx single pots, I have a Nissan Factory service manual if you would like me to photocopy the pages and send them to you.
Its a dirty job but they are pretty simple to do, the only reason to worry would be i the bore of the caliper was damaged which is possible if the piston is really stuck in there.
