The S13 comparison is probably the closest, I hate to use the term JDM as I've never used it seriously before hah
S13 180SX = JDM
S13 200SX = export market (NZ new)
S13 240SX = USDM, same car with a different motor
Kind of the same thing I think with Cedrics but a more knowledgeable peson might want to comment.
Cedric = JDM
240C, 260C, 280C etc = export markets
I'm having trouble thinking of many other car makes that do this sort of thing, it's kind of like Mitsubishi being DSM in the States after they sold cars badged as Chryslers (Starion = Conquest), the only other one that comes to mind that might be similar is Toyota people movers Estima = Previa = Emina = Lucida

Re: Stupid Question
JDM Sunny = 1200, 120y, 210(US Market) then on to Pulsar, sunny sentra once Datsun was dropped.
Bluebird Simmilar.
Datsun was quite schizo really, maybe confused or..
Maybe masters in marketing in the day, (Don't think Cedric, Gloria etc. would have impressed NZ Market) must have been a parts / international nightmare though.
Subaru has had a tendency also, Legacy / Liberty

If you want the full story, there is a program on the History channel about the Z car and Datsun/Nissan. You might be able to find it online if you know of the places to look

Re: Stupid Question
Rofl...omg I didn't care THAT much! Overkill of info there lol. My original point wasn't that of the same car being called different names in different markets, but that different cars by different makers sometimes punked the same name (really, it confused me when I moved to Australia at first, but lord help me I can't remember any of them...I'm sure someone in America that wasn't Holden made a Commodore...or something like that...or maybe for the uninitiated like me it's a case of same company under different name like how I was confused finding out my Nissan is a Datsun and vice versa...).
Why can't we just call them what they are eh? Like...a "capsicum" is a flipping GREEN PEPPER (or a red or a yellow or an orange one)...a bonnet is a HOOD, a boot is a TRUNK...a pumpkin is what you carve and squash is everything else that isn't a gourd! (that's my rant for the day...sometimes when you're an immigrant you get to missing the things you grew up taking advantage of...).

e.g. Americans use hood and trunk like you said.
Returning to your original query, you might want to make sure that your car is being insured for as much as you think. If there are such huge differences between the amount that the companies are wanting to charge then there may be a vast difference in what they are covering? I know that I was really let down with AMI's "market value" offer once. Can't be too careful.

Re: Stupid Question
That's why I stayed with my current one, we already agreed on the market value, which is a tiny bit more than what I've paid for it ($6000). AA wanted to insure it automatically for $1250! So if she was wrecked I wouldn't even get back what I still owe the finance people! And they wanted to charge me TWICE what my current people charge.
Mobile insurance might seem a bit "dodgy" but they were the only ones to insure me when I bought the car (on my restricted licence), and they're insuring the car (full cover including windshield and what not) for only $540 a year (AA wanted over a grand). I think it's a good deal now that I've seen what other people want so I guess I can handle a pain in the butt company that's impossible to get hold of when I want them, but they go nuts if you miss a payment lol.
Thanks for the concern anyway

Their examples are: I guess that is best scenario, been with them for 5 yrs, full license, over 25, no crash history or loss of license etc.

Re: Stupid Question
I wanted to insure my cars with Swann, but when I rang up the lady told me that they don't insure cars that are driven regularly. So that was me out. Gutted.
