The guy won't get paid if he damages the paint. No worries, the car still needs a full body scrub down and new paint job etc but we will see what happens or what I decide to do. May have to keep an eye on Vaughan's work if he decides to give it a gojas1200 wrote:You can also do this with a base ball bat, or that piece of pipe that you used for a power bar, ha ha. Anything like that will work.........However is this guy goung to roll and flare your gards without damaging your paint?

I'm free during the day on weekends.
Just text me to organize something on a sunny day or if someone has a space out of the rain to work.

Hey guys
Make sure you use a heat gun to warm up the paint to avoid cracking. I have done heaps of cars and the key is patience and keeping the paint hot.
Have fun.

Re: Braasy's Datsun 1200 (B110) 4 Door Sedan
Woot! Warranted and registered again. Niiice, lets drive!! Was nice to also catch up with Andy (z181200) who was also getting a warrant at same place at roughly the same time. Love the ute dude. Anyway, a beautiful day, a beautiful picture opportunity Pain in the ass having to wake up early and put my 12" SSS mags back on for now...
Have booked to get rear guards rolled and flared next weekend so I can stick ma new wheels back on at least the rear for now. Also, last weekend finally found why I was getting some small puddles of water gathering in the boot...damn rust holes. Hopefully next weekend I can get it looked at, fixed up and primered. Andy has also reinforced the desire to keep the original cream colour
That's all for now.

Re: Braasy's Datsun 1200 (B110) 4 Door Sedan
So I forgot to post an update on how the rear guard rolling/flaring went (from a while back), with images to match. No personal images unfortunately, but rear didn't turn out too bad. Did manage to steal a snap taken while pulling up at the starting point for this years Queen's Birthday cruise (thanks to Hayden/kartboy)...
A little hard to see, but now easily accommodates the 14" x 6" Enkei's nicely (fitted with 185/55/14 tyres) without being too over the top/pronounced. Now have some repair work under way to remove a few blemishes and small rust holes (plus some future proofing - new post and images to come), so thought it would be a perfect time to get the flaring tidied up and perform some general rust maintenance...
Well that's all for now. More updates to come on engine build and further repair work. Thanks to mush for his repair work to date
- Braasy
P.S. Forgot to mention I won't be using the guy I used to roll the rear guards. Got him in to do the front and had to stop as came across some bog. Have ordered new panels but the night I was moving the Datto to mush's, heard a knocking just round the corner from home. Pulled over, and you wouldn't believe it, no wheel nuts! After stressing how careful he is to make sure they are done up tight, he forgets to do them up!! So damn lucky the wheel stayed on going round a succession of corners. Bloody hell... Found the wheel nuts in the end...in the dark.

Re: Braasy's Datsun 1200 (B110) 4 Door Sedan
Rust repair/maintenance is a go! **UPDATE #1**
Front guards removed to get a clear and complete idea of their condition. The right hand was not great (although advised repairable), but for the sake of $105 + GST for a new guard, went with the replacement option. Went through BE Car Parts here in Christchurch and also picked up a matching front left guard, bonnet, and grille. Pricing was as follows:
Code: 1619928-0 | Description: NISSAN B110 1200 UTE 1970-83, BONNET | $150.00 excl. GST ($172.50 incl. GST)
Code: 1619931-1 | Description: NISSAN B110 1200 UTE 1970-83, FRONT GUARD - L/H | $105.00 excl. GST ($120.75 incl. GST)
Code: 1619931-2 | Description: NISSAN B110 1200 UTE 1970-83, FRONT GUARD - R/H | $105.00 excl. GST ($120.75 incl. GST)
Code: 1619999-0 | Description: NISSAN B110 1200 UTE 1970-83, GRILLE - SILVER/DARK GREY | $65.00 excl. GST ($74.75 incl. GST)
Total = $425 excl. GST (488.75 incl. GST). Also given free delivery to Kaiapoi (where the car is being worked on presently).
Advised inner wheel housings and upper chassis rails looked to be in good shape (it is apparently common for them to rot out as water sits in the bottom of the rails). Also removed the crappy wing mirrors from the front doors. For now, the screw holes have been filled with urethane sealer (to make them water tight) until I get to painting.
Initial update images are as follows:
Further updates to come!

Rust repair/maintenance is a go! **UPDATE #2**
A while back I pointed out some leaking/puddles in the boot. Found the boot shut was a little rusted, hidden by the rubber. Also, prior to me owning the vehicle, the metal above the bonnet hinge holes had been cut into. This will not do...
The bonnet hinge holes have now been repaired, and the rusted section of the boot shut as been cut out. Images are as follows:
