Question for people with welders at home

I use food grade CO2 for my mig and i have done shit tons of panel steel welding with it. I recomend it . Far cheaper than argosheild.
Used to use migs with Argoshield and only realy noticed the difference when welding zinced or painted box section. A little less splatter.

i have a D grade bottle which is about chest height on me and it cost $70 a fill. versus the next size down bottle double the price for argoshield

If you can get normal industrial grade it should be cheaper because you wont have to be paid for it to be bacterial tested. (ie food grade) Like if you get hospital grade NO2 for your car... but I suppose its good to know it wont catch genital herpies. LOL

Haha, I just asked for the cheapest gas to run on my mig and thats what they gave me, Im stoked

I use Argoshield light at home, similar to standard Argoshield but is designed for use on lighter guage steel (panel steel etc) has a slightly higher Co2 ratio than standard so its a little bit cheaper aswell. And mainly because i had an argon regulator and didnt want to buy a seperate one just to run Co2.
Argon & argoshield will give you a much cleaner weld than Co2, but if your grinding your welds up it doesnt really matter alot anyway.

Just a note also, we used to use Air Liquide as our gas supplier in my last shop untill we discovered, Although they're cheaper than Boc gas they dont fill the bottles as much. So its not really cheaper because your getting less gas!
