Right, front sheet metal work is officially 100% finished.
etch primed, skimmed with bog, blocked, primed, sealed & wrinkle coat chassis undersealed
Radiator is back in, fitted up radius rods & not pictured but the sway bar is back in too.

Re: James 85 Z31 300zx
So I gave up on my Cuzco Camber plate modifications because a USA company has started making direct fit camber plates to fit stock springs with all hardware and parts included.
as you guys know the exchange rate is pretty awesome for buying parts from the USA
so in about a weeks time I should be rolling around on a nice set of these, Fully Can't wait !
Cert is getting closer and closer I can almost feel it, might even make it Akaroa this year.

Re: James 85 Z31 300zx
With from Camber plates on their way from the USA i got motivated to finish off the adjustable camber subframe that i started ages ago. I ended up making it less complibated and elaborate that i intially designed.
To make it more simple i used a toe adjuster bolt ,which is from a z31 anyway. I moved the bolt down so that it takes out some negative camber and when you rotate the bolt it should provide about 1deg of adjustment.
My zed runs about 1.5 deg negative at 4x4 ride height so once its lowered i should be about the same at max adjustment.

Re: James 85 Z31 300zx
Bit of a boring Update but oh well
The cross member pictured above, has been painted up with ceramic chip proof low gloss engine block paint, has been hardened with a heat gun and looks like OEM Factory brand new. My Front Camber plates should be here Mid next week so expect some pics soon of some awesome front camber.
My rear brake Upgrade that I started a little while ago is about to enter its final phase with the calipers being sent to my mate to rebuild them & supply some new pads. ( I have rebuilt plenty of calipers before but these ones are a real bastard with no sensible way to access the internal parking brake cir clips without special tools).
And last but not least sometime Next week I will send in my Rear springs to be compressed 35mm to match the front being lowered, I am also going to design some new upper shock mounts as the ones on the oem shocks are soft as hell and I don't like them very much. New Design will be Poly Bushed and simultaneity lift the shock up higher so that it keeps the spring captive once lowered.
Something like this...
Bit of a Random Edit
Got a mate in the USA to pick these up for me, just need to decide what other goodies from USA/EBAY

Re: James 85 Z31 300zx
Feels like I have been dishing out money left right and Centre !
Got my Mate to have strip down all 4 of my rear brake calipers to make one good pair ( one ones that take thicker rotors )
Safe R Brakes had something to do with replacing some tricky needle roller bearing somewhere, so big ups to them for doing a good job.
Thankfully all the fucked parts from the 20mm calipers could be transferred from the 10mm calipers as they take the same piston and what not. which is also good as it means it wont mess up brake bias.
I better get into a CERT check ASAP if I'm going to make Akaroa, I hope i can but its going to be a big ask !

Re: James 85 Z31 300zx
Small Update time
Rear brakes have been Installed for a Weekend now and are looking really sharp, As mentioned above I needed to figure out a way to mount the shock absorber high to keep my springs captive.
So what i did was pull an old shock mount to pieces by drilling the spot welded, slid a piece of pipe on the inside and tack welded the bushing cup's back on the top.
So far its only Tack welded, being a critical part it will be sent out for Tig Welding by a certified Dude
Shock Poke up nicely
Speakers and stuff should still fit, and there is still good access to the bolt
Close up so you can see whats going on - yes the top is sitting at a funny angle as it needs tweaked a bit more
And here is the Old spring, next to it is a piece of wire that i held between the upper and lower spring perches and cut to length so i could measure it and work out how much to compress the spring. I can go 40mm Lower at the back, which is Awesome news because there is currently 90mm of wheel gap.
also if somebody has a 2.5 inch ID coilover spring i could borrow for a weekend let me know !
