B310 Radiator

Post by A15VB310 »

Hey guys, just spent over an hour reading the FAIL thread. Gold.

Anyways, my radiator has sprung a leak... Not too keen to go back to a standard radiator... I think mine was out of a C20 van... Any radiators out of other cars that will fit? Eg, Corolla, Silvia etc etc, or even just close enough, prefer hoses in stock (or close to stock) position. A15 in VB310.

P.S, probably going to run an electric fan on the next one.

Cheers.
I sold my Toyota for this.

You can make almost any radiaotr fit with a bit of work. Just so long as it'll fit between the innerguards/chassis rails.
Maybe try pricing up a recore for your c20 radiator? I got mine done for $100. And the C20 radiator is a good size for a sunny.

It's only the top tank that's split, just a little bit, glued it up, it's holding alright, I was hoping to use a Silvia/Corolla one as I have them lying around. I know they're like gold, but it's just so damn ugly, there's an outfit in Oz that does alloy ones, but only for L series. Lame.

I'll get the existing one repaired, and go from there, I'm just a real tight ass lol.

I'm still open to ideas though.

Cheers guys.

Don't fuck around.
Either swap the radiator, or get a shop to fix it. Taking rusty's advise will lead to you overheating your engine and fucking it.

Rusty you clown. Nobody fixes a copper tanked radiator with fibreglass. The tank needs to be soldered back up with the proper equipent. And plastic tanks aren't repaired. They're removed, thrown away, and replaced with a new tank. A guy I used to flat with had been doing radiators for years. If he read what you've said it be................

How many engines have I killed? Fucking heaps!
Thats how I know what works and what doesn't. Trying to bodge things up might work to get him through till payday or something, but do a rusty job and then saying "there I fixed it!" will only lead to a bigger fail later.
Thats why I just had a C20 radiaotr recored. Because thats cheaper than swapping out a cooked motor. And sitting on the side of the road with steam spewing out is no fun when there's somewhere else you'd like to be. I've even had to take a piss in a radiator once, just to get home.
