Re: no datsun virginity now
yea thats true. ill probably give most of it a go. but the parts around the windscreens and stuff ill leave to the good guys. chances are i will make it worse haha
Re: 1973 datsun 140j project
ok new questions. would i be better to shell out for some 45 weber dcoe sidedraughts for my l14 with a 5 speed box and exhaust system or go for an l20b with 5 speed and get the carbs and exhaust later on?

Re: 1973 datsun 140j project
Go for the bigger engine.
There's nothing wrong with an L14, but more dispalcement has way more scope for performance.

Re: 1973 datsun 140j project
ok did some work this weekend, pulled the horrid rear seats out, they didnt fit too good -.-
picked up from repco a central locking system for $30 so i installed that, will eventually wire it into the alarm but atm its in and working so im happy,
rewired my headunit so its in the glove box all hidden away to keep things looking original.
found that the speakers dont actually fit in the hole in the parcel tray so i will be making a new parcel tray that sits higher for the speakers and an undercover amp eventually.
got a center thing for my wildcat steering wheel, still need to hook up a horn.
and scored me some free subaru front seats too, cheers mrs' dad,
will post pics up tomorow arvo,

ok i should be picking up my l20b and l20et 5 speed which im told is a short box, im just wondering since the l20et is a 6 cylinder? will they meet up and work?
and also will i need to change anything other than the sump, oil pickup and dipstick?

Re: 1973 datsun 140j project
if the l20et box is a short one it should bolt straight up, just use the factory x-member off old gearbox, and yea sump and oil pick-up should be the only things needed to be swapped over
