1973 260c datsun (h230)

Post by tapdat »

hey iv got a 1973 260c datsun (h230) 3 spd auto l26.
I brought this off an elderly man in nelson for $1500 and brought it back to christchurch around 3 years ago.It was in pretty good condition but has cost me alot of money to keep it as my daily driver since then (fully worth it tho:D)
it is original as could be except for extractors and exuaest which i now regret putting on as it looks shit and extremely loud lol.
the problem iv got at the moment is the diff.
Iv had to replace 1 before and it cost me a fortune and took forever to find.iv rung alot of wreckers and searched high and low for another 1 and asked lots of people what diff heads are the same as a 260c but havnt had ne luck.
If ne1 knows where 1 is or know any info on diffs that will fit would be much appreciated.
cheers

welcome man, look forward to pics of your 260. if im correct you will be after a h190 diff. kinda hard to get, but someone here might have one or know where one might be. will be good to see it at our akaroa cruise if you manage to find a diff.

whats wrong with your one that you need to change it?

I have one that should fit, but it's very low geared, so you'd use tons of gas, and the engine would be revving high all the time. (I think it's a 4.6:1)
I know of another member here who has a spare diff, but he may want to keep it.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............

Agreed hard to find correct ratio, but 4.6 quite available, are your crown wheel and pinion OK?
