You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.

Thanx to Jayden, datsun118, the truck wheel is gone.
Jayden very generously sent me his surplus Steering boss, so I could fit my old wheel out of the 'Z'
What a great guy, and what a difference it make to driving the car.

Problem solved, Never believe them when they say 'procrastination is a waste of time!!!'
Ever since getting the 12ie back on the road the charge light has flickered and the lights have got dimmer and brighter as I drove along. I have always meant to have a look at it, check out the Alternator and Voltage reg, but never got around to it, it's only been about 2 years so I would have got there eventually, probably if the battery ever went flat.
Yesterday while on the "Southern Cruise" I finally fixed it.
What happened: Indicators stopped working on the drive home. I flicked the fuse cover off at lunch in Timaru and wouldn't you know it, a '74 1200 doesn't have a fuse for the indicators. No test equipment so I did a visual of the fuses, all OK. Heading out of Timaru I noted that the gages weren't working either, and that the Charge light had stopped flickering. On checking the fuses again I saw that the gages and voltage reg. are on the same fuse, fitted a spare from the ashtray and everything works as it should.
Some how at the time the car was repainted the fuse has broken down, coincidence, but timing had me suspecting the fault was under the bonnet.
Moral of story, Procrastination saves time, may cause an accident, (No indicators) but save hours searching for an intermittent fuse fault!

Re: Dirty Datty 1200, 2 tone Grey and Mustard, to Orange
On another note, would like to say how much I enjoyed the cruise, think I will fit a 5 speed though, anyone got a Std pattern box they want to deal for a dogleg to go behind the A12, Wof guys would baulk at a dogleg and insist on cert I think.
That said even with the 4 speed in and blood coming out my ears, the wee thing cruised for 2 days at 70mph and over at times, (Passing of course), had great power and returned 39.2mpg, a converter on here tells me that is exactly 6L/100K. I'm stoked with that!
