WTB L14 Pistons

Post by unlimitedpower »

Has anyone got any L14 pistons they don't want? Im not after the rods like everyone else just the pistons.

I was going to throw a block back together to keep it all together and noticed that one of the pistons has some major grind marks on it.

If anyone has anything lying round let me know.

if your in no hurry, then once we get Pips 140J road legal, we will be pulling the L14 out and putting in the CA18.

You can have the pistons (unknown condition as of now) for free if you pay to get the rods pressed off them.....unless I can con someone into doing that for free too lol

Sweet im in no rush at all. Was just looking at my bock with the L14 pistons L18 rods and crank and L14 block taking up way more room than they should and thought to myself i really should throw all that back together to take up a lot less room. My shed is very small. I think it cost me $15 to get the pistons removed from my L14 rods so id me happy to pay that and freight etc.

So the 140j is going the CA18 route that should wake it up a little.

Whats the bore on an L14?
I have a piston holding jig that protects the piston when the pin is being pressed out. Despite being pushed from pillar to post by exploding petrol, pistons are quite delecate, and easy to damage.

Interesting. Im pretty sure the bore is 83mm.

The weird thing with my damaged piston is its got major wear on one side of the piston at the top above the rings but its in line with the gudgeon pin not 90degrees to it. Well i think its weird anyway.
I'll take a photo if anyone is interested.

I think my holding jig (A block of nylon, with a pston sized hole bored in it with aflat milled on one side, and hole bored to press out the gudgeon pin) has like a 77 or 78mm bore.

The rest seem fine. Its just the one that seem to have quite deep marks on it. Thats what confuses me i thought that they all would show some signs of it. To be honest i haven't had a good study of them just know that one of them doesn't look to good.
