Z18ET Head gasket problems!

Post by Kanos »

Hi guys.
Anyone ever had to do a head gasket on a z18et?
Having problems matching up the head gasket. The one that is blown matches a z16 gasket but is too small in the bore size. The z18 / z20 head gasket I got (permaseal) matches the bore size but is too small between the bores themselves :? Don't want to have to lower boost significantly.

Any ideas? I'll order in an ACL gasket but I think it'll be the same. Failing that I can get the parts guys at work to get me one from Japan but I'm too impatient haha. If all else fails I'll get one made up but bit pricey.
Anyone know of any good places to get a head gasket made up?

Cheers guys!

I have a genuine z18et gasket, the spacing between the bores is quite small on them, not sure why but all 3 of the gaskets I have seen are like this.

Bugger that's annoying, I already ordered the one from Japan. Wonder how long it'll last with 16psi running through it :?
Might have to lower it down to 12psi or something...

Username "chch32" at the old forum had a z18et in a ke70 raecar. He was popping gaskets at 16 psi, but he was running a link. I think 12psi is the limit that can be sustained with factory management. It's pretty antiquated. I know kiwi510 was getting pinging around 12psi too. Too much of that kind of thing will eat headgaskets.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............

Any ideas where I could get a copper gasket made? Unsure of anywhere up in the north. Have asked the local engineering shop but no dice there.

Wonder if this motor is the same from the ke70? The previous owner said it was from a racing dx. My car is running a link and 16psi...hmmm.

And my genuine gasket got put on back order, brilliant.
