L18 W block

Post by stedy sss »

I have just noticed 1 of my L18 blocks has a W stamped on it beside the serial number, but my other blocks don't have this.
Can anyone tell me what the W means?

Cheers

later model L18 maybe? I have noticed earlier ones seem to be A87 and later ones W53 for some reason?

I think the W has something to do with a different casting of the block....can't remember what exactly.......maybe something about the water jackets or something?

someone on here should know!

Yip the w block have siamese bores that means you can bore them out a bit more than a normal block, also they hold a bit more water ive heard.
