Well not much big is happening right now.
Just put in its new starter motor and did a break pad change.
However she has decided to start making a concering noise which I suspect is a bearing.
So where Im at is looking for a second car so I may remove the motor and recon it and add a cam.
and some pics for you :)

Hey Guys,
As some of you know Iv just come back from few months in the US of A. Thought I would pop on for a update and say hello :D
Feeling the cold now, funny changing gears with my left hand too. Finally realised how small my car is as well!
Had a tidy up this weekend, redone all the wiring in the boot and engine as it was a bit rough.
Running the loom behind the valance to the left hand side headlights/indicators etc, so its looking all tidy in the engine bay.
Have also got a new motor for the mean time. Pulling mine out to do the bearing as slap in a cam etc.
Trying to go a bit lower in the front (despite it prob being impractical given CHCHs current state).
So if anyone has a front pair of struts they would like to sell give me a bell.
Installing central locking and alarm next week. Electric fan is on the list to go in as well.
Just going back over things, giving everything a tidy. Replacing hoses etc.

Spotted a 1200 Sedan yesterday parked up at Northwood, seemed to be owned by an oldie, was straight asides from bit of a ding of l/h rear guard, a light blue/white colour. Put my number on the window but no suck luck yet.
Will hopefully pop down to the meet up and say hello to you all, Have a friend riding at Methvenn so I will see how the day pans out :D

SO alarm and locking is in, my dash is being recovered and I have put the Tacho dash face in :D

Motor- the bottom end bearing has gone.
So if anybody can or knows anyone who can replace for me Id be keen to know, cash paid.
Had someone lined up,but time is crunching and I really would like to make it to rakaia. :burnout:

Let me know if you are able to help out :highfive:

Typically it's not just a case of changing a the bearing shells if their knackered.
It's quite common for the crankshaft itself to need a regrind, (Or at least a poilsh) if a bearing shell buys the farm.

Typically it's a job for an engine reconditioner, or maybe a mechanic. It's very fiddley to to remove and replace and crank with the pistons and conrods still in place.
Datsun motors are quite forgiving of things not being quite right though. (to a point!)
