hey guys i brought myself another b310 and due 2 some numpty mutilating the "stando" a15 head i was forced 2 find another... so rather than putting the a12 in it i decided 2 put the a12 head onto the a15 block... now i know some have different oil feeds but after filling it up with water today... it started leaking from between the head and block... lol so is there any water jacket alignment issues?
feel free to call me a dumbass haha

Is the head gasket on the right way? When i bought my ute the muppets that had it before me put gasket round wrong way and water pissed out the back.
Other than this im not sure of any other issues. Maybe check gasket against block then against head to make sure everything lines up.

It's apparently quite easy to put the head gasket on back to front. (Not that I've done it)
And as for the oil feed thing, it depends if the A12 head is from a datsun 1200 (B110) or not. ONly the early heads (off the front dizzy motors) had the different oil feed. Run your engine up, and if you're getting oil up to the rocker gear, then you're fine.
Although, I'd be looking for another A15 head if I were you. The A12 motors run smaller valves, as well as smaller ports. So I'd expect a noticable decrease in power. Plus the A15 manifold wont be a good fit (if at all?) to the A12 head.

Not sure of any water differences, but the oil one is easy to identify with the head off, and easily remedied.
I guess you will have the head off checking the gasket. So check the oil gallery on the spark plug side next to the central head stud, it is the small round hole next to the stud hole. Obviously it should be on the same side of the hole on the head and the block, if it is not you can simply drill it in, connecting it into the head stud hole. Special care will be needed to seal the old gallery hole at the gasket.
