Getting Parts

Post by brsmith »

Hi people, just joined this forum. My father bought a brand new datsun 620 ute in 1977 and 3 years ago, at the age of 82 he gave it to me. In 1993 he did an engine transplant and put a Nissan LD20 diesel motor in it. It is a tad noisy but very economical to run. I use it on a daily basis for my work and am getting quite attached to it. In 12 months time our family will all be away from home so I intend to retire it from daily use and begin a bit of a clean-up in time for it to become a veteran in 2017 (Rego with a diesel motor is close on $600 a year at the moment).

However At this stage I have a bit of a challenge - The outer, lower suspension bushes are sufficiently worn so that i am unable to get a warrant at the moment, does anyone know where i can get after market parts as these things are now so old Nissan doesn't know where the parts book is any more.

Can I suggest you ring Cockram Nissan in Christchurch and try Scott in parts and see what he can find for you. Otherwise it is probably an engineers job, just a brass bush and rheme (spelling?) it out, as long as it is an early king pin model.

Ive got a pair of front hubs and king pin hubs etc sitting in my garden you can have them if you come and pick them up. Not sure their much better tho. and if you need a near original engine Ive got one of them too.
No matter where you go, there you are.
