Here is something me and a mate are working on.
My Nana recently moved into a rest home, and offered me up her genuine one lady owner 1993 Columbus 300,
Which is to those not in the know, is in fact a mobility scooter.
We looked into the Guinness World Record rules on a mobility scooter, and it says as long as it looks like a production standard scooter then its eligible.
So we decided to go for the world land speed record... the current record is 71mph, were aiming for 100mph (160kph)
Stats:
KTM 300cc two stroke.
Pro-circuit expansion chamber and tuned length exhaust
4 wheel conversion
Radiator under the floor
Fuel tank in the basket behind the seat
front disc brakes, no rear brakes (burnout machine)
super stiff coilovers (aka no suspension)
rad 6x3 mag wheels
clutch set up on handle bars
Hybrid electric start . so its an electric motor connected to the rear axle via a 1 way bearing, in other words powered crash start capability (pcsc)
This last pic is the most recent, and its what it will pretty much look like at the end of the build, oh except ill be in full leathers instead of shorts and chandals.
Gona be a handful at 100mph...
As you can see you can hardly notice the 40hp motor under the faring, so id say it looks factory enough.
The exhaust is now done, as is the shifter set up. The last things left to do is bore/hone the cylinder, put the motor back together, and make a trigger wheel for the megasquirt ecu, and it should run.
Oh and has any one got a good witty/catchy name? all we can come up with so far is Mo-billy-T-James and Indian Scoot
Worlds fastest mobility scooter (Mo-Billy-T-James)

I approve!
But ridged suspention will be dodgey at high speed. Unless you're on a salt flat.

Re: Worlds fastest mobility scooter (Mo-Billy-T-James)
holy crap, 160ks and no suspension, you must have balls the size of coconuts, you are going to need a basket on the front (just for them lol) good luck though,

We are hopefully going to do a practice run during the Air force Ohakea open day, on the 31st of March. if it all pans out ill get a video and post it on here.
Yeah there was really no other option than rigid suspension, as it needs to be really compact to fit under the faring. But i agree that it will be dodgy at high speeds, it will probably be dodgy at low speeds too haha.
And we arent going to fit a basket to the front haha, i did think about it though. We were thinking it would be funny to put a flag on the back, which would end up almost horizontal at top speed.
