Re: Goods and Services offered by NZDatsun members!
Hi all, just wondering if anyone can recommend someone who can help with tuning and other issues in the Wellington area? I have done some stuff myself, but my meagre knowledge can only go so far and my car is not running great...or if anyone can recommend a good mechanic for these things that would be great. Was getting some help from Kane in Porirua which was awesome, but I think he may have gone overseas for a bit - still want to get you that replacement part if you see this post man!
Cheers Phil

I think you are thinking of Kane, aka Crustywhip who has moved to Christchurch.Roddsteel wrote:Hi all, just wondering if anyone can recommend someone who can help with tuning and other issues in the Wellington area? Just Carb, I replaced plugs, oil, air and fuel filter and its running worse than before haha. It has a few things that need to be done at some point, but generally runs pretty well

Re: Goods and Services offered by NZDatsun members!
Hi Guys
Totally by accident i have had a few people ask me to fit up & Check LSD centers from R200 short nose diffs into R200 Long nose Diffs
So I don't mind offering this to Datsun Club since most know what im up to anyway.
What I feel comfortable doing
*Fit your LSD guts into a long nose housing & set backlash back to factory specs , or near as what it was previously
*Thow some paste on the teeth and check the contact & adjust again if necessary
*Drill out and tap the housing to M10X1.5 so you can fit aftermarket large or Nissan finned alloy covers ( you supply new bolts & washers )
*Install new side bearings ( if you supply them to me )
*Make up new rear cover gaskets
*Giving the housing a wire wheel and shooting it up with some engine block paint ( add extra $20 )
*fitting new side seals
What I can't/wont do
*Work on a diff that's covered in oil and shit, got to be really clean before it see's my bench.
*Work on more than one diff at a time, ( small parts easy to confuse shims ect this is a no no having too much shit on the bench at once )
* I won't remove your pinion shaft or go near the pinion shims or bearings
* I can't machine down your axle stubs to fit
* I can't machine up bolt spacers for crown wheels ( Bart can arrange this so best to contact him )
Dan1200SSS now has his diff and hopefully will report back how it runs.
Illusive is next on the list with his diff about to go up on the bench.
Spot 3 - Brendan (mint 16 ) gets first call on spot 3
Spot 4 - Leppa ( Dylan ) gets first call on spot 4
*I would estimate about 2 weeks for diff to get done, but it could be longer - i get bust and I'm not a pro diff shop
Any Diff that comes off my bench has no warranty / or gaurente of any kind whats so ever. I do my best building diffs on my bench to the Nissan factory specs. I do have most of measuring gear to do a reasonable Job, but in most cases i do not get to listen if the diff is noisy when its in car so i have no way of knowing if it was noisy before it got to me.
I do not carry any parts so you will pretty much have to find everything you need before you ask me about it
Remember I am not a diff shop and I am not doing a pro job I am a dude in a garage doing his best with 2nd hand and worn diffs that come from old cars.
This is what a diff could look like when complete

you forget to mention you are one very talanted bugger who will probably take more pride in your work than the diff guy who charges $70 an hour and does this every day, and is over it, but doesnt know what else to do with his life. so he works on diffs and doesnt relly care one way or another. (broad generalisation)

Re: Goods and Services offered by NZDatsun members!
I can now put something on here. I have read this thread but felt that Youth COunselling was not something any Datsun Dude would be in need of, they obviously have their head right being into Datsuns.
But Now I have changed jobs I can offer Rental car services out of Christchurch. Hit me up if you are visiting and need a car, van or SUV, we have Demios to Jeeps and 8 seat MPVs, even Luxury Lexus's.
I also clean cars, lots of them, so if you are needing a clean but can't get it done yourself give me a yell.
Hopefully soon I will have a hoist and will be able to set up my Old School wheel alignment gear. So watch this space to see when I can help with anything in that line. This is not suffisticated modern stuff with print-outs, this is old school Projectors where I can set it to what we want rather than what the computer says it should be, for a later model car with different settings, 'cause we don't go back that far, or 'cause your's is modified.
