50-50 for nats!
Funds are running dry, but holding out hope
Just got the front 15mm lower tonight, any more and I'm running out of travel... so the leaves now need to be reset slightly and we're off and away!

^ jeez a complement from the Cedric overlord! Thanks man, it's not too bad, has a few bumps scrapes dents and paint mismatches/fade from 40 years of hooning but it is overall super solid.
I intend to keep it that way, it's got a load of character as it sits.
Upcoming plans for this are pretty cool/a bit different so all going well, by next summer it'll be ready to hit the road with a new look.

Thanks to Simon
And chees-
Result of a couple of late nights before Oldschool Nats getting the height just right on the old girl, got my springs back from Archers at 4:50pm on Thursday night so was cutting it pretty fine!
For those interested, the front is using a set of HQ Holden shocks, matched to a pair of Dobi springs also intended for an HQ. These are a substantially uprated spring rate, and a substantially lower free height (125mm shorter) than a stock H230 spring, however they are extremely captive and with the modified bump stops (still have 30mm on them) it has around an inch (25mm) of travel, so for the most part rides really well.
Rear is simply a set of 2" solid alloy blocks, extended U-bolts and a 25mm reset on the leaf springs. Shorter shocks originally intended for a Landcruiser keep it all in check.
Next stage of this creation is looming, this will entail some much needed maintenance consisting of rust work (bottoms of guards, and rear edge of bootlid need attention), some minor repairs to the drivers seat vinyl and removal of the head, installation of new head gasket, tensioner, cam chain, waterpump and new valve stem seals.
Finally, just because - I think I want to swap this to manual. I have the opportunity to buy a 5 speed that's currently behind an L24 in a 240Z. Is this what I'm after (ie. correct length of gearbox?) and is the yoke the same as the auto, or will I need to undertake driveshaft modifications to suit.
Finally finally - after hanging out with a few of the Christchurch boys this weekend past (oh... and of the 4 best vehicle awards, Datsuns took out 3...) I've decided Bex and I are going to mission down to either the Hanmer or Akaroa events... which one do the masses generally consider the more worthwhile travelling down to? It's going to cost a bomb so I need to start planning
Cheers, Rich.

Def come down for akaroa dude - this year will be better than ever
As for your manual conversion an L28 diesel box is the same as Z box but the shorter of the two types (called Long or Short boxes - bout 100mm difference in shifter position - the 230 wagon i have is already factory manual unknown which gearbox but i can find out so you know if the Z will be the one to get. I'm going to go 1UZFE - but will be keeping the rest of the manual conversion. Ask if you can get the rest of the pedals etc as the z ones may be able to be retro fitted.
If you need the longer gearbox to get the shifter in the right place i still have a FJ20et manual gearbox (which may be the same as the z) which will bolt up and thats on Tard me atm.

I think you will find the 240Z box will have a companion flange on the rear, not sure but I think the C has a sliding yoke, like a 1600 etc. so the box won't work without modifications to teh drive shaft. Later 280ZX boxes have the sliding fit, would pay to measure the length of your box, bellhousing front to end of tail shaft housing so you get the right box. PM Mike, nzeder on hear or the Z car forum, he may be able to give you more info, or you could crawl underneath, sorry would have been easier last week, and take a look.
