Not a Datsun question but i'll ask anyway.
I have my Isuzu mu radiator out getting an overhaul and figured that i would put a thermo fan switch in the top tank while its out of the car. I prob won't fit an electric fan for a while but its easier to make the provision for it now.
I use the truck as a beach hack only and do a bit of sand dune bashing so it gets a work out.
Its a 2.8TD
What im wanting to know from and diesel guys out there is what heat range of switch should i use.
eg 90on 85off etc,
I don't know anything about diesels other than they are insanely cheap to run when its dereged and they are dirty as hell to work on.
Thanks
Brett

Re: Thermo fan switch
i would work it around the temperature of your thermostat. no point have the fan switch on if the thermostat hasnt opened yet. i would maybe run it about 5 degrees more than the thermostat-if thermostat opens at 90 degrees, make the fan switch on about 95-98 degrees and turn off about when the thermostat just closes

Re: Thermo fan switch
That was logical and i did think about that buy didn't know how much extra to go above thermostat temp range. Thanks for that. thermostat is out right now so easy as to tell.
I prob won't even need to run an electric fan but have to fill the hole in the radiator with something now so may as well be the right thing if i do decided to put something in there later.

Re: Thermo fan switch
you could probably run it slightly higher, maybe even as high as 105 degrees as long as you have a good antifreeze/water ratio.

Re: Thermo fan switch
Prob be at least 50/50 or 100% antifrezze depending on how rich i feel today.
If i get the 2.5 or the 5L (just wasted 5L of the crap when i took the radiator out) The stuff i use is ok to run 100%
