Update:
I bombed the back end today, just to cover up the exposed primer..
Hope to get the rest of the primer covered up tomorrow.
The joys of not having a shed/carport to park her in
And on another note...
Thanks to the joys of having no license, and having to walk everywhere
I spotted this today!
It's an absolute rust bucket, but then I noticed a few things, as you see:
All the windows are there, bar the windscreen.
the rear interior, rear seats and majority of the dash is there and in pretty good nick..
Motor minus the carb, box, diff all there.
I asked the guy in the shed, who's it was, He said his landlords.
So asked him to see if its up for grabs, or parts of it atleast...

Do you mean the coupe?
I'm waiting to hear from the owner, If I don't hear anything in a month or so I will hunt him down! lol
In other news:
I talked to precision regrinds today, they told me $350 for new valve seats (All 8 ) and my valves lapped into place. I thought this was a fair price.
Then I went to my trusty (And friendly) wreckers this afternoon, and through random 'old school' ramblings, heard about a guy (Ex-staff member) who's name is Dave
They told me he had a worked L-series head he had been holding onto for ages, of his old race Datto. (I have no idea what model)
So I used my magical tracking abilities, and got hold of him this evening.
He said it's a Worked L18 head he had on his old L16. It has big valves, and a cam.
He didn't know what type or angle the cam was, but was pretty sure it was a Kelford. He said it wasn't a 'lumpy' cam, but made alot of torque!
And it looks like I'm going to get it cheap!
...So can you guess what I'm buying next pay?? lol
So my next much needed parts will be intake & exhaust.
Am I correct in thinking that the intake is a necessity and exhaust just makes it alot more powerful/smoother.
Or do i need both straight away? Anyway, I AM IN NEED OF THEM!
Any one with a few goodies spare? or willing to part with for a good cause?

What do you mean by "intake" Bert? Do you mean swapping to new carb(s), or something else?

An engine combo works on the three C's.
Cam, carbs, and compression.
A nice set of headers and a decent exhaust will help the engine make more power/make it more free revving.
Only drawback with not doing them at the same time, is you'll need to replace the gasket twice. (Although I don't suppose you'd pay too much for stuff like that?)

Re: 82' 910 Bluebird
Ahhh... Yes that makes sense. And no, gaskets are dim-a-dozen to me lol
My full head set cost me $39 I can get coby extractors thru work.
But carbs and intake manifold not so easy... An ideas?
Unfortunatly I don't have the biggest of budget...

Re: 82' 910 Bluebird
I talked to Bill at Coby performance today.
They said I can get a set of made-to-order extractors for about $350 delivered. (that isn't to bad?)
Then Bill told me that the jig they have for making them is from the 'older school' Datsuns, and that my firewall/floor
sit lower than the 180b's etc, and will be very close to touching at the rear of the extractors...
He then gave me another option:
Having the pipes cut and bent to length, manifold plate, cone and flange all made up and sent to me in kit-set!
That way I can just set them up, tack them in place and weld them up!
That sounds like a better fit to me!
And a better price! $150 Delivered
What do you think?
I talked to one of our other suppliers about carb's/manifold's.
They told me $2010.00 +fright will get me two 40mm side droughts, intake manifold (Subject to AVAILABILITY??) Link kit And the two mounting plates... Not including air filter/s or anything else

Re: 82' 910 Bluebird
Good news on the 610 coupe, I got hold of the owner today.
I did a bit of a hunt, 2 or 3 phone calls, and was given his e-mail address
I flicked him a letter and got a quick reply saying he is happy to sell it
He is overseas at the moment so I'll have to wait for him to return to our beautiful shores to work out a price...
