WTB: Z31/R31 3x2 companion flanges

Post by DJZ »

Yo, I'm after a pair of preferably early model (pre '87) 3x2 companion flanges from a Z31 or possibly a Jap spec R31?

Can swap for a pair of 4x1 flanges + cash or just cash.

How big is the spline?
I have some replica R30 companion flanges.

Bigger than the R30 splines unless they are DR30 I think. I measured one early but can't remember, maybe 27mm?

Yeah I'd head that the DR30's were bigger too.
FWIW, S12 ones are the bigger size too. I while ago I tried some S12 ones at nisbits, but they were too big. Brendan might have some S12 ones spare? He discovered they were bigger after selling me his R30 ones.

I have some. I picked up a r31 rear end recently for the r200 diff. I just need to press the stubs out so they will be off soon. Send me an email if you like ;) rear end was from a 87 RB20 manual jdm car.

Sweet man, will do. I'm not sure what's going on with my car but I'm using 4x1 flanges and the flanges themselves or the bolts are hitting on the body just on the edge of the wheel well when I accelerate hard, makes for some interesting noises.

The 3x2 flanges are a little bit smaller on the OD by the looks of it, I've compared a 4x1 flange to a late S130 3x2 flange that I've got. I think maybe if I swap to 3x2 flanges & axles it'll fix it.

Not sure if this helps or no

When Jason Pooke ( FJ20 R30 Coupe ) Converted to 5 stud

he bought my spare set of 5 stud hubs and flanges, we took his R30 ones and had the splines taken out to fit on the Z31 Axle Stubs

I know for a fact that both had the same spline count, only the dimensions were slightly different.

I don't have Jason's contact details but I organized the machining for him through Justin Neil Engineering limited

This is how he was able to do 5 studs conversion on his R30
The Answer to your Question is NEEDS MORE VG30

Yeah they are pretty close, there's only 1 or 2mm in it but I've sadly only got one late S130 flange now and it's longer than the 4x1 flanges that I've got at the moment.
